Student Possessions / Contents Insurance provides cover for student belongings, whilst living in halls of residence and private rented accommodation in the Republic of Ireland, such as shared student houses and student flats.

Basic Cover:

Provides you with essential protection plus a range of optional extensions that be selected to suit your specific insurance requirements.

Insured Perils

Items are covered on a “new for old” basis against loss or damage by: fire, flood, storm, theft, escape of water and other similar causes (except clothing, linen and rented household goods- where a deduction is made for “wear and tear”).

Basic Cover – What’s included?

• Possessions /Contents within the insured address up to €5,000
  • Your personal possessions / contents are covered at the insured address against loss or damage by: fire, flood, storm, theft, escape of water and other similar causes.
• Possessions in Transit up to €5,000
  • Cover for your personal possessions, for loss or damage while in direct transit between your home address(within Ireland) and the insured address, at the beginning and end of each published term time.
• Rental Protection up to €500
  • Covers you for rent you have paid, in advance, if you become temporarily totally disabled as a result of sickness or accidental bodily injury and can no longer live in your rented accommodation.
• Landlords Property up to €1,000
  • Covers you for theft or fire damage: To the Landlords property that you are legal responsible for under your tenancy agreement.
• Personal Accident up to €10,000
  • You will receive a lump sum if during the period of insurance you suffer a Permanent Total Disablement for one of the defined causes as a result of accidental bodily injury occurring in the territorial limits
• Accidental Death of a Parent or Guardian €10,000
  • We will pay up to €10,000 following the accidental death of a parent or guardian, on whom you are financially dependent, so that you are able to complete your course.
• Replacement locks and keys up to €250
  • Cover for the cost of, replacing keys and locks to an external door at the insured address, following damage, as a result of burglary or attempted burglary.

What are the Optional Extensions available to the basic cover?

• Accidental Damage (Accommodation only) up to €2,000
  • Choose cover up to €1,000 or €2,000 for accidental damage to: audio equipment, camera equipment, desktop computer equipment, games consoles, television, video and DVD players.
• Desktop Computer Equipment (Accommodation only) up to €2,000
  • Choose cover up to €1,000 or €2,000 for your desktop computer equipment against loss or damage by: fire, flood, storm, theft, escape of water and other similar causes.
• Laptop Computers Equipment up to €2,000
  • Cover your laptop computer equipment for either €1,000 or €2,000 anywhere in Ireland for loss or accidental damage.
• Mobile Phone up to €1,000
  • Cover for accidental damage or theft of your mobile phone anywhere in Ireland.
• Pedal Cycle up to €500
  • Cover for Pedal Cycle for accidental damage or theft anywhere within Ireland.
• Specified Items up to €2,500
  • Covers specified personal possession for theft or accidental damage anywhere within Ireland.
    • Excludes cover for: Mobile Phones, Pedal Cycles and Laptop computers as they have their own section.
    • Cover is for items such as Portable audio equipment (i.e. I-Pod), Digital Cameras, Watches, Jewellery or similar items.

What are the principal exclusions?

• The first €100 of any claim (the claim excess).
• Theft from an unattended vehicle.
• Mobile phones, pedal cycles, Laptop & portable computer equipment unless specifically insured.
• Cover away from the insured address unless specifically insured.
• Items used for business purposes.
• Contact Lenses.
