Campus Block Halls Insurance - Basic Cover Explained

Shown below is a summary of the cover provided for students living exclusively in accommodation managed by Cosmopolitan Housing Association.

HOW MUCH AM I INSURED FOR?

Your personal possessions are insured whilst inside of your accommodation subject to item limits listed below. In the event of a claim, items will be replaced as new, regardless of age or condition (except for clothing, linen and rented accommodation household goods where a deduction is made for wear and tear).

• Personal Possessions: For their full value subject to an item limit of £250
• Desktop Computer Equipment: Subject to an Item limit of £1,000

IMPORTANT: Laptop & portable computers are not included within the Basic Cover provided. To insure these items you must purchase the relevant optional extension to Basic Cover.

ADDITIONAL COVER BENEFITS

• Cover in direct transit to and from home at the beginning and end of each University term.
• Cover in University designated storage during vacations: for theft from forcible entry.
• University property on loan: up to £150.
• Replacement Locks & Keys: up to £50, if your keys are stolen.
• Personal Money: up to £50, for theft from your room following forcible entry.
• Credit/Debit Card Fraud: up to £500.
• Hospitalisation through accident: £30 per night, up to 7 nights.
• Assault & Mugging Benefit: up to £150.
• Broken & Fractured Bones Benefit: up to £100.
• Personal Liability: up to £1,000,000 for injury to others or damage to their property.
• Food Spoilage: up to £25, following mechanical failure of fridge/freezer.
• Damage to Clothing: up to £100, for damage caused by faulty laundry equipment.
• Landlords Property: up to £5,000 for theft or fire damage.

You can increase Personal Possessions Single Item Limit to £500 or £1,000 and/or extend the Item limit for Computer Equipment to £2,500. You can also extend cover of your personal possessions to include Laptop Computers, Sports or Musical Equipment and add cover for a Pedal Cycle, Legal Expenses and Personal Accident (whilst participating in acceptable sports).

You can also extend the cover to include items anywhere in the UK (you may wish to consider this option if you own items such as laptops & portable computers, cameras, iPods, jewellery and other portable items).

The following categories of items are subject to a maximum amount payable during the period of insurance.

• Personal Possessions to their full value subject to a Single Item Limit: £250
• Desktop Computer Equipment: £1,000

WHAT IS NOT INSURED?

• Personal Possessions: The first £25 of any loss. This is increased to £50 or £100 if the item limits are extended to £500 or £1,000 respectively.
• Desktop Computer Equipment: The first £25 of any loss.
• Landlords Property, Laptop & Portable Computers: The first £100 of any claim.
• Laptop & Portable Computers (unless Basic Cover is extended).
• Theft from vehicles.
• Contact Lenses.
• Pedal Cycles, Musical Instruments and Sports Equipment (unless Basic Cover is extended).
• Sports Equipment whilst in use.
• Cover outside of your accommodation (unless Basic Cover is extended).
• Mobile Phones.
